Library Staff

The library is open thirty minutes before and after school, during class time with a teacher’s pass, and Nutrition Break & Lunch. We encourage our students to visit our brand new, state-of-the-art library to study, research, browse, or read.

The library currently has twelve periodicals, two newspapers, three thousand fiction books, four thousand non-fiction books and one thousand reference books. Our collection is standards-based and curriculum-driven with thousands of new titles added each year.

We have a section of books designated “College Bound” consisting of recommended fiction and non-fiction books, and a variety of college prep books. Check these sites for additional recommended books:

Using the Internet in the Library

Students will have access to the Internet on the library’s thirty-one computers and in their classrooms. Students must display their ID cards to use the Internet, and the Internet may only be used for school work.

Although the Sweetwater District provides a filter that blocks most inappropriate sites, the district does not guarantee students will never be exposed to sources that contain material that is inaccurate, obscene, profane, sexually orientated, and defamatory or potentially offensive to others.

The student and parent incur any costs or charges as a result of seeing or accepting advice or information found on the Internet. Parents who do NOT want their children to use the Internet must sign and return the Internet Waiver Form.

Textbooks

During the first week of school the library will issue students their textbooks. Each book costs from $70 to $120 – we encourage our students to regard their textbooks as they would any expensive items.

To protect their books students should COVER them and WRITE their names in the books’ inside front covers. Each textbook has a unique barcode. A student must return the textbook that has the same barcode number as the one on his/her computer record. Fines for damaged, lost or stolen books must be paid in CASH.
